Editorial Code

The reporting and publishing standards possirak holds itself to.

1. Truthful reporting

possirak reports on the basis of fact. We do not present unverified material as fact, and we mark clearly where something is inference rather than established fact.

Information supplied by a source is still checked against other sources. Figures, dates and names are verified against the original material before publication.

2. Fairness and balance

Where interests conflict, we carry the positions of the parties involved. If we offered a right of reply and it was declined, we say so in the article.

We do not publish coverage that endorses or opposes a particular party or candidate.

3. Independence

Editorial operates separately from advertising and sponsorship. Advertisers have no involvement in the content of an article or in whether it runs.

We accept no money or hospitality from those we report on, and we do not cover matters in which the author or the author's family has an interest.

4. Respect for personal rights

We do not infringe privacy, reputation or image rights. In crime reporting we take care not to reveal the identity of suspects or victims.

When covering minors, victims of crime or vulnerable people, we take particular care to avoid causing further harm.

5. Copyright

We do not use the work of others without permission. Quotation is kept to the minimum necessary and the source is always given.

We publish only photographs, charts and video that we produced ourselves or are licensed to use. Every image carries a credit.

6. Corrections and accountability

When an error is confirmed we correct it immediately and state in the article what was corrected and when. We do not conceal errors or amend them silently.

7. Headlines and language

A headline must match the article beneath it. We do not exaggerate facts or use sensational language to attract traffic.
