Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

possirak requires no registration, no sign-in and no personal data in order to read an article. We collect the minimum necessary only in the following cases.

Enquiries, tips and correction requests

The address, name and content of the message you send us by email

Collected automatically

Server access logs (IP address, browser type, date and time of visit)

possirak sets no cookie of its own to identify or track readers, and uses no visitor analytics tool. Advertising cookies are set by the third-party advertising providers described in section 6.

2. Why we collect it

• To reply to enquiries, tips and correction requests
• To operate the server and respond to faults and unauthorised access

3. How long we keep it

Once the purpose of collection is met, the data is destroyed without delay. Where retention is required by law, it is kept for the period concerned.

• Email relating to enquiries, tips and correction requests: one year after the matter is closed
• Server access logs: three months (Protection of Communications Secrets Act)

Method of destruction — electronic files past their retention period are permanently deleted by a method that prevents recovery; any printed material is shredded or incinerated.

4. Disclosure to third parties

We do not provide readers' personal data to third parties, except where an investigative authority requires it through lawful process.

5. Cookies and automatic collection

The only cookie possirak sets itself is a single administrator session cookie, issued in the admin screen that only the operator uses. No cookie is set by possirak when an ordinary reader reads an article.

The third-party advertising providers in section 6 may, however, set cookies in your browser. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings, and doing so will not prevent you from reading articles.

6. Advertising and third-party cookies

To fund our operations possirak carries advertising in part of the page, using third-party advertising providers including Google. Those providers may store cookies in your browser, or read cookies already stored, in order to serve advertising based on your visits to this and other sites.

Cookies used by third-party advertising providers are managed by those providers and not by possirak. We neither read nor retain the information they hold, and we provide advertising providers with no information that identifies you, such as your name or email address.

If you do not want personalised advertising, you can opt out as follows.

• Turn off personalised advertising in Google Ad Settings
• Opt out of participating providers at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com
• Block third-party cookies in your browser settings

Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove advertising; it means the advertising you see may be less relevant to your interests.

7. Your rights

You may at any time request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a halt to the processing of your personal data. Write to admin@possirak.com and we will act without delay.

8. Transfer abroad

possirak does not transfer readers' personal data abroad. Cookie information set by the advertising providers in section 6 may, however, be processed by those providers outside Korea, including in the United States.

9. Security measures

• The number of people handling personal data is kept to a minimum and controlled
• All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS
• Access to the admin screen is restricted and access logs are retained

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will give notice on the site from seven days before it takes effect. The effective date of the current policy appears at the foot of this page.
